Nike was founded by University of Oregon track athlete Phil Knight and his coach Bill Bowerman in Beaverton, Oregon. The company's first shoe was based on Bowerman's waffle outsole that was made with a waffle iron. The first collection launched in 1971 featuring the "Swoosh" and the name Nike, derived from the Greek goddess of victory. Great shoe. Bought it as an everyday shoe to wear but I could see how it would be a good trainer too. I also have the 07 version of this shoe and I have to say that the 08 is better. Very comfortable and it looks great.

Great workout shoe!!!!
I needed a damn good athletic shoe because I workout a lot. This shoe fits the bill and is positively heavenly. They are very lightweight and felt like I was walking on air. I purchased the white/metallic silver/lavender. They're gorgeous in person.

Firm, snug support -
Comfortable shoe, has a few "rub" spots on the inside next to the vertical stitching that you can see on the outside. Firm, not very flexible, great cushioning and shock absorption, breathes well.

Great shoe - need more arch support though -
I am really pleased with this shoe: it's nice looking and the Medium width is a perfect fit for my Med/Narrow feet. I did buy a half size up though and even that is a bit snug as compared to my last pair of Nike's which had a longer last than this, (providing more toe room). Also, because I have high arches I will probably have to buy some more support for them because this doesn't really cut it - this is common for me though so it may not bother anyone else. Overall I like the way the shoe wears for running or working out on any exercise machine.

I just bought a pair of these sneakers at a boutique in San Francisco. I love the silver (which gives the shoes a nice edge) and they are super comfortable, even on San Francisco's hilly streets! I have been in the market for a sneaker with elements of a running shoe, but without the bulk and cushioning that you need when running! I have found that and more with the Nike Air Pegasus GX. I bought them in a half size larger; both sizes fit well, but the salesman kindly reminded me that the humidity on the East Coast might mean I would appreciate a larger shoe. I plan on getting tons of use out of this hip and comfortable shoe!

I wore these right out of the box and they felt great on my feet I bought them for work. I am on my feet 8 hours a day. I have many, many comments on them on how great they look. I bought the white/black. They are more white with purple.

Finally; trail racer -
Finding a reasonable balance between light weight and trail worthiness isn't easy, and isn't going to be the same for every runner. I am 63, a trail runner for 50 years. I am not fast, but I want light for the races.
Pros: weighed them, really, ten ounces. Sticky grip on rocks. No grooves to pick up sand and gravel. Adequate rock guard in the form of a thin nylon plate. Relatively low to the ground. Very adequate cushioning. Neutral.
Cons: Personally, would prefer more heel elevation for dealing with steep up hills.
This is Nike's best trail shoe, and in my book, bet overall, and I have tried a LOT of them.

This shoe looks really good and I appreciate the light weight. However, it needs more cushioning (a good insole helped with this). The main problem is the scratchy material over the toes and rough seams cause irritation. I would not be able to wear these shoes without fairly thick socks. A disappointing quality from the Nike brand.

Great running shoe. I do about 5 miles 4 times a week on my treadmill and this shoe keeps my foot comforted the whole time. Great support and excellent cushioning. Seems to breathe well too. I also like the option for the Nike+. Thanks Zappos - as always - excellence in service.

I got these shoes in early July and couldn't be happier. I bought them in the blue and the orange so that I could rotate and keep them longer. Very nice neutral cushion shoe. No problems at all up to 8.5 mile runs in them so far. Did need to order half size larger than usual, that's the only gotcha.

These shoes are the best. I just now received my 5th pair. After three (3) foot surgeries and living in FL flip-flop mecca, these shoes are heaven sent. I wear them everyday and am stopped each and every time I wear them. People want to know where to buy them. I tell them Zappos of course. Zappos service is excellent. My only complaint is - We need more colors of Air Rifts!!
